Another night, another prospect pitching great.

Garrett Olson is having a pretty good night himself in Norfolk:

7 IP, 7 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 7 K, 0 BB

Also, Chris Waters keeps taking care of business.

7 IP, 4 H, 1 R, 1 ER, 4 K, 1 BB - 0.87 ERA

Greg Pappas said that if we draft Matusz, he'll immediately become our best pitching prospect. If that's true, he better walk on water. :D

Seriously, I haven't been this thrilled with our pitching prospects in a long, long time. If we draft Matusz (or Crow), I wouldn't be a bit surprised if our farm system is ranked at the top of the league as far as pitching is concerned.

Well, Matusz doesn't have the pure stuff that a Erbe or Tillman has but he is a lefty that can and probably will be consistently in the 90's with his fastball and his curve and change are plus pitches as well. So Matusz would be very close to the top but since he doesn't "project" as an ace yet, I'd put him behind Tillman and Erbe unless either of them have less than solid years.

Considering how much upside Erbe and Tillman have, I could live with him being ranked behind them. :)

And then you'd have Arrieta, Spoone, Britton and about 10 other pitchers right behind them! Not bad at all! ;) I think you're definitely right that if we draft Matusz we'd have the best group of pitching prospects. Heck, we might even have that without him!
