If he does eventually make it to the O's this year, I wonder what nickname Buck will assign a guy who already has a nickname (or at least one that sounds like one)?

(1) what's his nickname?

as to your questions -- I wanted to say the "magic wand" but it's a little over the top for Buck.

I'll put my money on "Roddy". Typical Buck nickname.

Looks like his given name is Wandy. Surprised me. But as I mentioned upthread' date=' it sounds like a nickname. And I agree, I bet Buck would go with Roddy.

I really, really like this guy. Mainly because I'm not sold on Wright, Worley and Wilson's inability to go deep is certainly a concern. Having to rely on a bounceback from Gallardo or Jimenez to be consistent is also a problem.

I like Wandy as insurance. Lefty, not too far from removed from effective seasons...and honestly I think he's a guy that can consistently go 6 IP and allow only 3 or so. He's not going to be an ace...or even middle of the rotation, but he's a fine (potential) back end starter....on this club.

DD once again has to dumpster dive to try and shore up our outstanding rotation. [emoji849][emoji849]

I will give Duquette this...at least he's seeing that he screwed up in the offseason by relying on Gallardo, Wright and Wilson. It doesn't excuse signing Gallardo, but at least he's doing something.

Now, it's not much. But he has to get some depth/insurance that could at least contribute instead of relying on guys like Worley, Despaigne, McFarland, etc.
