PED Suspensions Coming

Marte's PED of choice -- Nandrolone -- was a staple during the good-old, wild west days of performance-enhancement. Indeed, a quick Google search reveals a 2005 New York Times story that said 73 MLB players tested positive for Nandrolone in 2003. That was back in the days when Barry Bonds' evolving cap size was a regular topic for discussion. So naturally, people with long memories are going to be skeptical.

"Marte's positive test should be a wakeup call as to how many players are still doing PEDs," said a player agent in response to Tuesday's announcement. "Do you think a guy in the middle of a $31 million [guaranteed contract] tries steroids for the first time? And Nandrolone to boot? You don't accidentally take that stuff."

Just remember Cal mentored Arod in a similar fashion that Arod mentored Manny.

Not sure it's quite the same. ARoid and Manny are both from Miami and worked out together. I don't recall ARoid hanging out in Aberdeen playing basketball with Cal.

I've always wondered about Cal too. 91 was a very nice rebound after a downward trend. And the toll the streak was taking on him. So I wouldn't be shocked if Cal used. Cal and Brady were/are best friends too. Though I'm not sure about Brady. Never understood the 1 year thing.

My theory, if he did use for one year, is that their were side-effects that caused him to stop.

Of course I don't care if he used.

Cal was a huge man. At 16. If you are looking for something there look for what he ate at age 3. Did anyone ever see Brady when he was not training as a player?

Cal was lanky at 16. My brother went to school with him. I was born and raised in Aberdeen. Not everyone in Aberdeen puts him on a petistool. In fact, he's not as loved here as you think. I get it. He does no wrong in your eyes.
