Did Manny every force another player to choke him?

I don't think it's possible to force anyone to choke you, although I haven't tried.

We are also talking about Papelbon :)

I don't think Manny is seen as an angel anywhere outside the Baltimore fan base is where I was going.

I know where you were going, in fact I thought I was already there.

Manny is not the second coming of Cal as far as comporting himself on the field.

Manny's just fine. Seems to be a little bit of the infamous/famous Baltimore inferiority complex rearing it's ugly head in trying to force Manny into comps with Trout and Harper. As if he's not on their level or something.

He is, he's doing just fine. People should understand that Trout and Harper are going to be forever linked because they came up on the same day, IIRC, in 2012. Harper had some playing time the season before but they got called up on the same day, similar skill sets, similar positions, similar age, both ran away with rookie of the year awards in respective leagues. While they don't get to go head to like Magic and Bird used to, they're linked in the same kind of way.

IMO, the less attention on Manny, the better. I don't want him in the conversation, even though it seems inevitable that he will be. The more he gets mentioned, the higher that price goes up.

Trout debuted in 2011.

Manny is ahead of Harper in WAR this year. In fact, Manny is ahead of MLB in WAR this year.

Since 2012, Harper is #10 at 21.1; Manny is #14 at 19.3. Of course, Trout has them both beat for that period, #1 at 39.9.

No doubt about it, Manny is an elite player. The gap between these guys is very small, and Manny is poised to become the top dog in MLB.

Cool, I guess. Unless you're trying to use that to make any sort of argument that their offensive value has been similar.

Are you suggesting that right now it isn't? I mean, I know its only 34 games but Manny is more than a win better than Harper on offense.

Yes, this year so far absolutely. This thread was a post about their careers, in which Harper has a 28 point advantage in wRC+.
