Yeah, umpires can't effect games... :rofl:

I said fix games. They could try but would have to be be enough calls to make it worthwhile for a gambler. At home plate even with a big strike zone does not guarantee which team would win. Not sure even if the umpire took money it would be a sure bet that he could have a direct outcome on that specific game.Too many variables.

Yep that is why I said it would have to be a long con. Place sizeable bets over an extended period of time. The umps' ability to influence games should pay off over the long term.

I think the non-call angered Darren, and instead of taking time to calm down, he decided that he's going to throw a fastball past Martinez and get the strikeout. A better plan (I said to the TV after the call went against us)would have been to go with the same pitch (low and away slider) that enticed Martinez to offer.

Today's game is why the O's can't afford to lose Sunday's game.

If they are going to repeat the success of 2012 and 2014, they will need to have a nearly spotless record in 1- and 2-run games, because they (still) don't have enough starting pitching.

Other teams can afford to blow the occasional late game but the O's can't.
