Some Norfolk Questions/Observations

1. I just watched Walker CRUSH a homer to deep center. Wow. Looks like a different player this year. Does everyone think his defense is good for LF? I do, particularly with more time, but wanted to see what everyone thought.

2. How long does Almanazar get? I know Buck loves him and his physical attributes are there (Jose Batista late bloomer?)but I haven't seen any improvement.

3. To me, Yaz looks like our 4th OF. He has great OBP, great at bats, can play CF, can pinch run and steal. If Kim goes at some point, wouldn't shock me to see Yaz if he gets off to a solid start.

1. Walker is the first one up if we need a bat.

2. I think after this year, he's done.

3. I'd like Yaz to replace Reimold next year or this year if possible

And Almanazar just struck out on 3 pitches with the bases loaded and game on the line. That's not the bad part. The last pitch he swung at the catcher stood up for the pitch location and Almanazar swung at it.

Love Walker's power but there is too much swing and miss. I don't think he'll succeed at the ML level. Walker is currently hitting .241 with a a .758 OPS and 45 K's in 162 AB's. Mancini is the better overall hitter with just as much power.

Yaz could be a LH version of Joey Rickard. Dariel Alvarez doesn't have a ML regular bat. I would consider turning Alvarez into a relief pitcher. When he was signed he threw 93-95 for teams and pitching was an option at the time. He'll never be more than a 4th outfielder and probably not even that.

Mancini is probably the only one on the team with a realistic chance of being a ML regular although Yaz is the kind of player who overachieves. I'd give Yaz a better chance of seeing time as a ML regular than Walker and Alvarez.

Some really good analysis here, particularly on Dariel. I had no idea he even threw as a pitcher for teams.
