Today is our 20th Anniversary

Tony-OH

Recommended Posts

On May 23, 1996. I went live with the first version of Orioles Hangout called, ** Tony's Orioles Hangout **.

Back then it was one page site on my personal account, man have things changed. I never had a clue what it would turn into.

Over the years the site has morphed and turned into a true online community. We've had people who met their future wife/husband on here, people who become great friends, people pass away and we've had people who left and some who came back. In other words, this is like any other family.

I've been luck enough to have some incredible talented people help me along the way. There was Kerry Leibowitz in the very beginning and then Richard Legendre and Southernbird (my first real system admin). My good friend to this day John Domen was huge during my deployment to Afghanistan and then came guys like Scott Hoffman and Cary Walker. Obviously today I'm lucky to have Michael Williams (Weams) and you young up and comer Chris Slade along with current Sys Admin Shane Bauer who helped design the current the site five years ago.

Of course I've also had numerous writers and contributors over the years who have come and gone, all of which left their mark.

But through it all you the Hangouters have been there for us. You keep checking in and you keep making the hangout part of your lives even though social networking has changed how we operate on the internet.

Way too many great Hangouters to mention you all by name, but Frobby and Drungo have to stand out as some of longest running and best members. RZNJ and ScOtt are two other long time members who have a ton of posts between them and who keep the conversation going on many boards.

I just want to personally thank everyone for allowing Orioles Hangout to be part of their lives and here's looking forward to another 20 years!

Orioles baseball makes life worth living :)

This site just makes it THAT much better!

Thank you for all that you do for O's fans everywhere, especially those of us who are out of town.

Gives us a place to come and talk about our team when we aren't around baltimore fans everyday!

I appreciate the kind words Tony. This is an amazing place, and it's kind of crazy to think of how much time I've spent here over the past 15 years, give or take.

Tony - thanks for YOUR service to our country and to the Orioles community. You run a great site and I'm happy to be a long-time paying member. Tip o' the hat to you and all the Hangouters, including the ones who routinely drive me nuts. :)

Well, at 27,000+ post plus counting the posts lost in the great southerbird purge (let's just give you 3,000 more) at an average of 2 mins a post, and you've spent about 417 days posting. Thanks! :D
