Guessing this is one spot where we'll be trying to put any money saved on underslot guys in the top 10.

School: Poly Prep Country Day (Brooklyn, N.Y.)

Grade: Senior

Position: Shortstop and third baseman

Height: 6-foot-2

Weight: 185 pounds

Athletic achievement: He had led the Blue Devils to a 21-5 record at the time of his selection. Bakst owned a .447 batting average with 32 RBI, 33 runs scored and a .569 on-base percentage through 26 games. A member of the USA Baseball 18U National Team, he was an All-Conference and All-City selection as a junior and was a Rawlings/Perfect Game Second Team Preseason All-American.

Academic excellence: Bakst has maintained an A average.

Exemplary character: He has served as a mentor for younger athletes and has volunteered locally on behalf of the Harlem Baseball Hitting Academy and God’s Love We Deliver, which provides meals for the needy.
