Recent Lineup Changes at 105.7 The Fan

I'm surprised I didn't find a thread on this already (apologies if I missed it), but yesterday was the station's first day with their revamped lineup. Steve Davis was let go for "cost-cutting reasons", Rob Long is now partnered with Ed Norris for the 6am-10am slot, and Bob Haynie is now paired with Vinny Cerrato for the 10am-2pm slot. I'm a big fan of Rob and shifting to the morning drive seems like a promotion to me, so I couldn't be happier for him. I think they're great together so far and honestly...Ed's gonna have to step his sports game up to keep up with Rob. Bob Haynie sounds at home to me whether he's solo or paired with Ross Grimsley/Vinny Cerrato/Terry Ford/etc.

I'm only a Baltimore baseball fan, and I find the stations personalities baseball analysis lacking more often than not.

I still listen pretty regularly though because sometimes I forget the means to connect my phone and can't listen to my current audio book... and music on the radio is like nails on a chalkboard to me.

You know, typical behavior for ~30 year olds in the car. Talk radio and audio books.

Hate to lose Steve. Really can't stand Vinny or Ed.

Still don't understand how a relatively poor football GM got a job at 105.7 where he's masquerading and slipping and sliding his way through the baseball season. On top of that his voice is downright grating and he's just not all that bright.

That said, Ed Norris definitely should not be on the station. Back when 105.7 wasn't a sports only station, I get it. But since then? He's clearly a NY homer and doesn't understand much at all about the Orioles or the Ravens. He's a travesty.

I'm actually glad Rob and Haynie are there. They're awesome. And basically if you can get past the crap that is Ed and Vinny, the rest of the lineup is pretty good.

I was always curious why Vinny Cerrato was on a Baltimore Radio Station. I mean, I know why he's not in the DC or National Media. The guy is considered a complete joke here. But what is the connection to Baltimore?

I can't listen to that midday show, thankfully we got Grant and Danny on in DC in that time slot. The guys who come on at 2 PM aren't bad and seem to have a better idea of what they are talking about when it comes to the Orioles.

I liked the Vinny and Rob dynamic. It's definitely a promotion to be on in the mornings. In radio that's where you want to be.

Local radio people can't be Oriole experts like we are on the OH because most people want to talk about the Ravens. That's just the way it is.

Vinnie is on the station because he has sponsors. Listen to all the live reads he does. If you can sell ads you can stay on the air for a long time. I suspect that the same is true for Ed Norris.

Ed Norris never knows much of anything but he doesn't really act like he does. I'm not sure what the purpose of having him around is.

Vinny Cerrato might be the worst radio guy I've ever heard. He has a rep as an awful NFL GM, his voice and the way he talks is just unbearable, and overall he just comes off as a moron.

Vinny started in college at Minnesota, worked his way to Notre Dame under Low Holtz, landed in 49er land before 2 stints with the Redskins. He was on ESPN for a spell.

I always wondered how he landed on 105.7, guess he has to work somewhere.

As for Norris being on the sports network, with all of his law enforcement background, he has than stellar resume than Vinny.

IMO, I dont care too much for Vinny and try not to listen too much to him.

Should definitely have been Ed if they had to cut someone, IMO. Ken always sounded great in the mornings, I dunno why he can't catch a break.

Rob is good but his baseball knowledge is just terrible. I mean it's just atrocious, guys.

Feel bad for Bob getting paired with Vinnie.

Scott and Jeremy continue to be the best duo in local sports without question.

I disagree on Rob and his baseball knowledge. He's certainly no sabremetrician, but I also don't think I've ever heard him opine on baseball and thought, "What the-" like I have with Vinny and Ed.

Every station need a complete buffoon to say stupid things and rile people up. Vinny is that guy for 105.7.

He is the most clueless, jealous, juvenile, incompetent person I have ever heard on the radio, and the worst part is he is taking a job away from someone in the local market who actually worked hard in the business and deserves it.

I literally refuse to turn the station on from 10-2pm.

So glad Rob got away from him, he was starting to sound like him slowly but surely. And he is a good dude, and doesn't deserve that.

Don't really catch the morning show that much but will now, Davis got progressively worse over the years and his constant "think about the kids" political BS was ridiculous.

I don't get Vinny. If you want to keep him around for football season I get it, but he is terrible with baseball. I think Jeremy/Scott are the best duo because they play off of one another so well. I really like Rob Long and I think that he is one of the most well rounded guys when it comes to football/baseball/basketball. I like Ed for the non-sports talk in the morning, but he is lacking sometimes on the baseball side, but he is good for MMA if that is your thing. I am sad that Steve lost his job. I did not care of Ken W. or Steve, but that doesn't mean that I want them out of a job.

Really appreciate both Rob Long and Bob Haynie. Will miss Bob on the Orioles pre-game as I can't stand Jerry Coleman's schtick. Scott Garceau is the adult in the room, so to speak, and pairing him with Jeremy Conn works really well.

Agree with all of this, Coleman is slightly behind Cerrato in the likability department.
