If anything close to this scenario occurs, I may have to stop being a baseball fan. The thought of Manny being a Yankee makes me ill.

Eh, I'm not going to fret about it either way. I'm so tired of worrying about the future - in many senses.

Plus, at least we'll still have Chris Davis.

I think many people will step back from the game for a while. It'll always draw you back in, but that'll be a sucker punch that would top Mussina by a mile. It would be like if Eddie went to the Yanks circa '82.

Unfortunately I do think the underlying point is there despite the sensationalist tabloid crap from BSPN.

The Yankees nailed the trade deadline. It is what it is, let's hope Os win WS and then who cares if Yankees are up and coming ;)

ESPN knows who their audience is. They air and write the things to feed their biggest core audience. The thing that scares me about the Yankees these days is that they might start letting Cashman really run things. I think Cashman is underrated as a GM, but Steinbrenner stubbornness and stupidity has held the Yankees back in recent years. It might be my imagination, but Cashman's smarts combined with New York's financial might makes me fear the Yankees could be in a place similar to where they were before the Jeter era.

Feel free to move this if it should be somewhere else. I posted here because it mentions Manny.

Can anyone pinpoint the year that objective journalism died at ESPN? Cashman "hatches" a master plan? Really?

No. But screw ESPN and the Yankees.

While it's true they added a lot of talent to a handful of already solid prospects Gleyber,Mateo,Kaprelian,Frazier,Sheffield,Tate,Judge,Sanchez etc. The prospects they currently have lack star power, Clint Frazier is about the only one of those guys who has the tools to really be an upper echelon talent. The majority of the rest are guys who will have long careers but are unlikely to sniff allstar games.
