Sons of Sam Horn bashing Baltimore and O's fans

Where are the extremely sketchy areas around Camden Yards? Go east and you are at Inner Harbor / Fed Hill. Directly west is Ridgely's Delight. North is downtown / hotels.

You have to have no idea what you are doing to walk the 7-10 blocks to start getting into the bad areas of west Baltimore.

I agree with this as well, probably not a good idea to be wandering around neighborhoods, "bad" areas or Baltimore in general wearing the oppositions gear in the first place.

That isn't completely true. If you are already at the parking lots, especially the ones around the football stadium, a wrong or missed turn can get you into some very sketchy areas very quickly, whether it is Sandhill-Leadenhall directly east of M&T, or the industrial/poor residential areas between Russell Street and Washington Boulevard.

There's a lot of neighborhoods in that area that at least have the appearance of being sketchy, especially for someone lost at night from out-of-town.

The guy is still a whining dweeb, though :thumbsup1:

To be fair, one of the reasons DC isn't a great baseball town is that the population cycles through - most are already fans of another team. And a lot of those folks are from the Northeast. Many are legit Boston fans. Not living in the NE now isn't an indictment of them anymore than my residence in NYC means I can't be a real O's fan.

Good points. Doesn't explain the Red Sox fan from Seattle with no connection to Boston I met at the bar the other night, however....

When I forget, I'm reminded when reading this why I hate Red Sox fans as much as I do.

If you don't like our city, or our ballpark.... it's really simple. Stay back in Bahhhhstan and watch your team play baseball on your television sets.

I don't really see why you would be between Russell Street and Washington after coming out of an Oriole game. I guess Sharp-Leadenhall is one area that I probably wouldnt want to be without a crowd around - but it's so tiny and you are practically out of there as soon as you are in. Obviously, during Ravens games, Sharp-Leadenhall is safe as anywhere.

Bottom line is that we agree - the guy is a jerk and a typical smug New Englander.

Man, these BAHHHHSTAN fans are so full of themselves. I was out in Cleveland catching a Red Sox/ Indians game, and there was a section of Red Sox fans just ripping everyone around them like the Jake was Fenway West. These people use not winning in 2000 years, then winning one, an excuse to act stupid.

HAHAHAHAHA, Your ace Beckett got beat by the OOOOOOOOOOOOOO's, live with it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:laughlol::laughlol::laughlol::laughlol:

I have to disagree with what you say about DC. (And I'm loath to defend the Nat's, but here goes). Sure there are a lot of transients here, but that's true of New York City just as much if not more. It's a myth about DC that no one lives here and that everyone from DC is really from somewhere else. Saying DC isn't a great baseball town because the population changes is contradicted by all the loyal Redskins, Capitals, Wizards, and DC United fans who are Washington DC through and through. If what you say is true, it wouldn't be limited to just baseball.

Don't they have attendance problems at all DC sports? I don't know for sure, really just asking because of what I've heard. I wouldn't imagine the Redskins having any problems but the NBA, NHL, MLS?

Yes. 16 football games and 81 baseball games are comparable.

How have Caps and Wizards attendance been over the last 10 years?

I commented to baroquen last night about my trip to Fenway in '03 (granted this was before the bandwagon-hopping-post-2004-WS-win). I had a great time -- and the fans there are great. Those are the die-hards and true fans. They were very accommodating and not-at-all obnoxious. And, they were amazed and impressed that I traveled to Boston to see the O's. :D

The Boston "fans" that show up at Camden Yards are not "true" BoSox fans in my book. Driving into the city, I saw tons of cars with Virginia license plates. My best guess is that most of these "fans" are bandwagonners -- and those are the worst fans......for any team.

Witchy

You are exactly right. I was also treated very well in Fenway when I went there in 2006 in full Oriole regalia.

Most of the jokers who show up at Camden Yards are definitely northern Virginia types who stopped at Dick's along the way to buy their pink B hats.

I hate them with a passion ....

Ya know, when I read this post, in my head I hear it like...like...something...
