I believe they really want to move Ellsbury so they can play their young guys.  I hope they are stuck with him.  I would not be surprised if they make a deal with St Louis.

I hope they are the ones to give Chapman $100M+.

John Sickels really loves the Yankees farm system.   He grades 7 guys as B+ or higher, and they go 39 deep at C+ or higher.   That's a deep, deep system, though there's only one A- guy.

Their system was significantly better than the O's before they traded Chapman and Miller for big returns.

To give you an idea of how deep the Yankees' system is right now, they lost 4 players in the first 10 selections in the Rule 5 draft.   Well, at least they've got 4 fewer decent prospects right now.

They should have done some two for ones.

They won't be playoff good this year or next year, but give these guys time and we'll see how good they really are.

I've learned never to count them out of the playoffs no matter how bad they look on paper.

Joe Girardi is a really good manager.

I'd love to see them finally finish under .500 this year. It could happen, but I don't count on it.

If even a few of these guys pan out well they will be in a very good spot in a few years after another big spending binge.

If you airlifted their roster into the NL, with a few awesome teams and a whole lot of rebuilders, I think they'd be a likely wild card team. But in the AL, which continues to have a lot of contenders and only a few true pretenders per season, I think they've got a year or two to go unless a lot goes right for them.

Hmm.  The Yankees lose their DH which means they are forced to play Matt Holliday at 1B with one of their best young hitters in Greg Bird on the bench, or back in AAA.

I don't really think they beat out three of the Mets, Cardinals, Pirates, and Dodgers/Giants.  I'm not sure they beat out the Rockies.  Or the Diamondbacks if they stay healthy this time.
