At this point, I really don't think there's much of a choice. I think the potential is there to be really good with Tillman, Bundy, and Gausman. I'm good with Miley. Interested to see who's the #5 out of Jimenez or Gallatdo.

You can never have enough pitching, but barring a trade I think the staff is pretty much set. There's no real upgrade on the FA market.

The success of this team IMO really depends on Gausman and Bundy improving, Tillman being like this season and the bullpen repeating this season.

I think the 4th and 5th rotation spots will be a revolving door of Miley, Ubaldo, Gallardo and whoever from AAA gets rotated up and down.

Well, guys like Hammel and Nova would probably be considered upgrades, but the cost wouldn't fit the budget if we still have Miley, Ubaldo, and Gallardo on the payroll.

This is where I am.  I probably like Miley more than most.

Or Bundy. He has not won a job.

If he loses out to the two bonded names, we're in trouble. He should be guaranteed a spot. Why hold him back for Jimenez or Gallardo? Bundy in the BP or minors doesn't help us or him.

I think we're set with the pitching staff.  It might not be the best but I don't see the players changing.  The rotation could improve the way it did in the 2nd half of last year, just plus a healthy Tillman.

MLB: Tillman, Gausman, Bundy, Ubaldo, Miley/Gallardo

Depth: Miley/Gallardo, Verrett, Wilson, Gunkel, Wright

Bullpen: Britton, Brach, O'day, Givens, Hart, Miley/Gallardo, Drake

Bullpen Depth: Depth SP's, Ondrusek, Liranzo, Bridwell, Acquino, Garcia.

The Orioles tendered a contract to McFarland and he will be in the mix unless traded because he is out of options.

Personally I think we should trade Brach or Britton for another starter.  We should be able to get a very good starter for either (Britton more so than Brach obviously) but again, our bullpen is our strength and adding another TOR starter would be more beneficial.  Just my two cents.

For the cost I'm not really sure how much of an upgrade, and both would probably have worse numbers being back in the AL. Maybe we'll get lucky and Miley, Ubaldo, and Gallardo will have big years with this being contract years for all three, because I don't see team options being picked up at this point.

Do we need it or do you think the pitching staff is good enough for next season?

Good enough for what?  Good enough to beat Boston? No.  Good enough to contend for a wild card spot if the O's add some offense and defense. Yes, probably.

The O's pitching should be better than last year if Castillo in not terrible behind the plate.

The great news about all that is our staff is veteran. So they should do fine with out having a cerebral pitch caller.

If some falls in your lap...

Joe Gunkel, Logans Ondrusek and Verrett, Jason Garcia, Jayson Aquino, Oliver Drake, Parker Bridwell and Chris Lee are on on the 40 man roster...

Important parts of the staff are not veteran.   Bundy, Givens, Hart, and whoever takes Worley's spot are not veteran.  That is a third of the staff.

And Castillo could even change the veterans thinking if they can't throw the sinker or breaking pitch in certain situations because they don't have the confidence that Castillo will block it in the dirt.
