Last place Rutgers is about to knock off Wisconsin.  Big for MD since we're tied with WI for first.

They choked because they can't hit free throws. Now they are in overtime. ughhhh. I was just about to say good job to Rutgers then those jokers crapped away an 8 point lead with two minutes to go. These guys hustle but their lack of shooting and free throw shooting keeps them down.

Yeah, this game is over.  Horrible FT shooting by Rutgers.

One my only concerns with Turgeon is his lack of feel for a team on a run and how to stop them. How do you let a team score 13 straight points before calling a timeout? His guys are throwing up 3 pointer, can't get anything going, and he just sits there doing nothing.

He's not a great in game coach. Most of our wins are because a) we have more pure talent than most teams and b) Trimble is extremely clutch.

Holy crap is Gill worthless.

Gill and Brantley are bad.  Dodd and Nickens are only slightly less worthless.

Keep these guys off the floor.

Brantley has been awful today, but he's been pretty good this year overall in spurts. Same with Dodd. Gill and Nickens I agree, they're just not good major conference college basketball players.

Brantley had a nice 4-5 game stretch recently. But he's entirely a matchup guy. If the lane is clogged and he's not hitting threes, he gives you nothing.

Dodd and Nickens are good for defense.

Brantley is decent for stretches but he's a turnover machine.

Dodd is good defensively but his constant ticky tack fouls are unbearable.  I think the negatives outweigh the positives for him.  He just hasn't really developed.

I'd rather see Ceko and Bender on the floor.

Melo, Cowan, Jackson, Huerter, Ceko is my ideal lineup.

Agreed. Dodd is only playing ahead of Ceko because Ceko's been banged up.

Seems like Wiley's been (correctly) phased out. Gill can join him. If Brantley is "on," he's a solid bench guy. But a game like today, I wouldn't use him in the second half.

    • Why? He's not the most athletic outfielder, but the guy hit 45 homers.  I think they should at least try and keep the guy. Maybe not break the bank, but they should try and keep him.
    • I think I'm rooting for the Yankees too. I know I shouldn't but I had it up to here with KC teams beating Baltimore teams. KC have become Baltimore's daddy in sports.
    • I think it's got some merit but I don't know what to expect from Adley in regards to defense at first base.  Mounty has fashioned himself into a pretty solid defender at first base.  I'm having a hard time seeing Adley's fat ass being nimble and quick around the bag if I'm being honest.   You are right, a lot of it is timing.  But quite frankly, I'm good with carrying two backup catchers and waiting for Basallo if Adley were to move to first base.  IMO, catchers are here to call a good game, handle the staff, block pitches in the dirt, frame and steal strikes, do what they can to control the running game and provide leadership.  I'm completely over this wet dream of having a catcher that can hit after watching Wieters and Adley's 2nd half this year.  If you can luck your way into having a catcher that can hit, that's a bonus but it shouldn't be a focal point of building the team.  Here's hoping Adley can bounce back and be good with the bat next year and stay healthy.  Hard to believe he's dealing with nagging injuries that are effecting performance at age 26 but that's where we are.
    • I hate the Royals, ever since they swept us in 2014 and Jeremy Effing Guthrie dissed us.   They have great starting pitching and they have Bobby Witt.  The rest of the team is mediocre at best.  I think the Yankees will slaughter them.
    • I don't disagree that the bullpen has been a bit of a mess this year, but honestly, the bullpen did its job against the Royals. That's a good team and they held them to 3 runs over 18 innings. Considering they lost Bradish, Grayson, Means, Wells, and Bautista...I think they did pretty well.  The O's offense has to be better and more disciplined at the plate.  I think they need to clean house with their batting coaches. You can't have your best players up there swinging at shit like breaking balls that are way out of the zone. They also need to get a lot better at small ball and situational hitting. We had bases loaded last night and couldn't even get a run in. It's not like the Royals were blasting runs into the stands, they were getting on base, sending runners to second, and having strong at-bats to get guys in scoring position. This was a huge weakness for the Orioles this season. They were either scoring double-digits with multiple home runs, or they were losing because they couldn't manufacture anything.
    • We don't know that yet. The Royals have had an up and down season, but they are no slouches. I think NYY might be in for a surprise.
