Not sure how I feel about this.  Until the end of the season when I believe he was tiring, he pitched well and didn't seem to need the cutter.  On one hand, if it makes him an even better pitcher, great, but on the other hand, this makes me nervous that he might start having arm trouble again.

What say you?

From what I have read the cutter was his best pitch.  If he can add something that is better than what he already has and not hurt himself I am enthusiastically behind it.

Agreed - it's the whole "if" thing that's got me worried.

He had no issues shutting down the pitch before.  I don't think he will add it if he feels discomfort.

This.   I trust Bundy and the coaching staff to figure out whether to use the cutter, and how often.    It's good that a Bundy has developed to the point where it's not a "must have" pitch for him.

He said he would try it this spring and see how it felt. I heard him say that. Also, he never stopped using his "slider" until his elbow flared up again.

His located fastball, pre-elbow reconstruction, was absolutely the best pitch I watched him throw in the many times I went to go see him.

Supposedly featuring the cutter is a short term gain, long term loss sort of thing.  I'm okay with that.  Give me that sub-3.50 ERA.

If Bundy and Gausman pitch like a legit #1 and #2, we contend.  Everything else is sound and fury.

I think that is the regular cutter not the baby slider variant Bundy throws.
