As far as I know, yes. But the Orioles probably don't think enough of him for that. They also have Alex Murphy, Stuart Levy, Jerry McClanahan, Yermin Mercedes, and a few other minor leaguers that could  help.

Would've signed Hundley (he only got 1/2) or Suzuki (he got 1/1.5) to be our backup. Catcher market was dead this offseason. Dodged a very massive bullet not getting stuck with some monopoly money contract with Wieters.

I predict Caleb will make this effort a moot point by putting up a solid season as the backup. Solid relative to backup catcher standards, I mean. I think we'll see an OPS back in the .600s with a few HRs and good enough defense to keep a good hold on the job.

I fully expect his salary-per-RBI to be better than last year's $DIVIDE_BY_ZERO_ERROR.
