Not quite sure why Johnson was released. He was doing very well and seemed like very good depth at Norfolk.

Kind of surprising to me.    Johnson had the most at bats of any Oriole this spring, and had a respectable OPS.     Was his defense awful?    Did he ask for his release in the hopes of getting a major league job after getting so much exposure this spring?    Who plays 3B for Norfolk -- Andino?

He must have had an opt out. And he did have a nice spring. He was Hardy insurance. Before Janish was Hardy insurance.

I just posted a redundant thread.   I'm a little surprised with the move -- did he ask for it?    Was his defense so bad that we didn't want him?    Will Andino play 3B in Norfolk?    Johnson had the most at bats of anyone in camp, and a respectable .802 OPS.

I think he asked to be released.

That makes a little more sense, but if he doesn't get picked up, hope the O's being him back for Norfolk. Andino hasn't been doing that good this spring and had a huge mental error to end the game today.

He did a good job, showed his wares, and got to hang with his dad. Hope he gets a major league job and does well.

Andino is not a smart player IMO.

Well with Bourn being released that almost ensures that Gentry is on the OD roster. I'd also read into that Johnson wanted his release.

Good job by DD this spring. Got the better fit for a reduced rate. Continued to build respect with players by offering Johnson a good chance to prove himself with us. This will help us keep getting guys on minor league deals. They know they will get a chance. Johnson made the most of his AB's with Machado playing in the WBC.

Really? Huh? With his father as manager at AAA? Makes no sense. What bonus? He never made the team?
