Enjoy watching hardy for the games that he plays in his last season as an Oriole.  Even if the stats don't prove it out, it is not a coincidence that the Orioles resurgence coincided with his joining the team.  True leader.

But it is not about the wins and losses with a lot of the NEGATIVE posters on this board it is about who is the "Whipping Post Player" for the current season.  By not having the normal players from other years (Nolan Reimold, Matt Wieters, Tommy Hunter, Steve Pearce, Yovani Gallardo) to degrade for 162 games, J J Hardy is now moved to the forefront except for the two days that Ubaldo and Miley pitch.   I need to put some of these posters on my ignore list.

They still have Ryan Flaherty as well. That is the one that really drives me crazy, people complaining that he isn't good enough and yet if he were any better, he wouldn't be a utility infielder.

He has been a favorite and some how I forgot to add him to the list.  I am with you on the part of "If he was better".  It takes a special player/person to do what he does at the MLB Level.  Several of the Candidates for that position of "Super Utility" would not be as tolerant of the process as has Ryan Flaherty and I might add would probably be less effective in doing it.

I also should add Caleb Joseph to the list as he seems to get zero respect for the job he has done over the last three years.

I am more worried about Davis. I think his K's will be up and HR's down. I think he can still productive if he is willing to change his approach, but I have not seen evidence of him doing so even when mired in a slump.

So far so good.

I wasn't expecting much from Hardy when the season started but this is even worse than expected. He's hitting .190 and his OPS coming into today is .474

Also, back to back games where he called for pop ups out of the infield and both times they fell on the grass. Fortunately, a triple play resulted from today's defensive miscue.

    • We have gone over this repeatedly. Hicks' salary through 2025 is locked in based on his contract with the Yankees. Unless someone wants to pay him more than the 9.5M per year his Yankee contract will pay, he will simply sign for the minimum and the remainder of the 9.5M per year will be paid by the Yankees.
    • I mean I do agree with the many people who say here that if Cowser or Kjerstad or some other hitter emerges as good or better than Santander, then yes of course it makes sense to trade him.   But I just don't trust prospect rankings.  Don't assume a player will be as good as high as he ranked until he proves it over a period of time.  In 2016 Jorge Mateo was the Yankees top prospect, just ahead of Aaron Judge -- just to name one example.  For this reason I think Santander hangs around a little awhile -- unless the O's trade for or sign a replacement outfield bat prior to the season -- in addition to trading Santander.
    • But the Rays did lock up some of their best hitters -- mainly Evan Longoria and Wander Franco.  I know Santander is not at that level, but I think there's a good chance Santander is with the team to start next season.  I think it's a mistake to assume someone is ready to take over for him until he proves it.  If not then trade for or sign someone who is -- if he must be traded now or pretty soon.  I don't trust prospect rankings.  In 2016 Jorge Mateo was the Yankees top prospect, just ahead of Aaron Judge.   Also, the Orioles don't really have the pitching in the minors the way the Rays always seem to.  Can't imagine Means or any decent pitcher getting traded for that reason.  And for a long time the Rays weren't a very good hitting team, which I think is a big reason the Rays never tried to lock up their position players until guys like Evan Longoria started to emerge, though there may be a bit more to it than that.
    • 49ers QB Brock Purdy had UCL repair with InternalBrace. Here’a a summary comparing the two. I’m sure Bautista and his medical team will closely consider the best course for his circumstance.    https://www.armoredheat.com/armored-heat-blog/tommy-john-vs-ucl-repair
