A couple ST stints 2 years ago? Can you pick any smaller sample size?

No, I couldn't pick a bigger one either since we haven't seen it.  You are missing the point.

We've seen his stuff play up as a reliever and he is at the end of his rope as a starter.  It's time to see what he can do a a reliever rather than speculate about it.

I would love to see us get a younger JJ out of Wright. Who would we target is the question, though

Yeah, Hardy was not considered a good bet at the time because of injuries. The Twins had given up on him. Wright has no value and it would basically be a roll of the dice.

I'm with Frobby. I don't think his stuff plays, starter or reliever. Only 119 ML innings but .864 OPS, 5.72 K/9, 1.48 WHIP. And that deer in the headlights look he gets when he is in trouble. Folds like a bad hand in poker.

Actually, we've seen Wright pitch in relief in the majors numerous times.   He's had 9 relief outings in the majors, and has done OK (2.57 ERA, 1.357 WHIP, 2.6 K/9).   So we don't need to look at spring training performance.

I didn't know how to weed out starting stats vs. reliever.

I recall him coming out of the pen as a long reliever or pitching multiple innings a few times.  I don't recall a whole lot of short one inning stints.

Regardless, the numbers you provided show he could use another look as a reliever.

He did get a number of shorter stints.   6 of his 9 appearances have been an inning or less.    All the runs he's allowed in relief came in his longer outings.     So, nothing in the small sample disproves your theory.    Oddly, he hasn't struck anybody out in his shorter outings.
