Didn't pinch hit because Buck needs innings.  Sometimes a guy needs to take one for the team a bit.  Hopefully, he can give at least 5

He struggled with command early in the season last year as well. And got better as the year went along. Hopefully he'll snap out of it soon. This will in all likelihood be his worst start. Probably by a wide margin.

Then his 3rd inning management makes no sense. To remove Gausman as soon as he let a runner on is illogical.

We were 12th in runs scored last year.

My guess is that Buck was hoping Gausman would pull it together and give him a few more innings.  When he didn't look sharp, he got pulled.

I guess but being already over 60 pitches after 2 innings doesn't really scream that he has a chance to last much longer.

Incredibly frustrating performance to say the least. He was basically reduced to being a one pitch pitcher tonight. I don't think I saw a single offspeed pitch that was a strike, although I admit I couldn't watch the carnage after the grand slam. He looked terrible. Throwing and not pitching.

Just frustrating to see him struggle so much with command. His stuff is so filthy but it doesn't matter since he can't seem to ever put it where he wants.
