Orioles prospect Tanner Scott said some of the best advice he got during spring training was from Orioles closer Zach Britton. Scott said he had Britton watch a few of his bullpens, and Britton advised him to "just try to stay within yourself; don't try to do too much."

I'm sure no coach has ever told Scott to "not try to do too much".

Maybe it has more credibililty coming from a LH reliever who throws 97 mph and had his ups and downs before settling in.

Plus for some reason lefties get through to lefties better. Like Mcgregor telling Miley to slow his wind up down. We could sure use a guy like Scott or Liranzo to get on fire and give the pen another weapon.

C'mon, then it wouldn't be fair to everyone else, because our BP would just slaughter everyone.

He's coming along.   Here's one for you Frobby    Ron Guidry -  age 23 season  - Easter League AA  -    77 innings.   6.2 walks per 9 innings.

Age 26 in the majors.  2.8 walks per 9 innings in 210 innings.

Now, I know that Scott is being groomed as a reliever but when you see him going 3 innings, you have to at least wonder if he can go 4,5, & 6.   Guidry didn't have much besides a fastball/slider combination early in his career.

He certainly has my attention.   He's responding well to the 3 innings every 5th day regimen.   He's undoubtedly the toughest pitcher to hit in our system.   His H/9, by year: 8.2, 7.4, 6.0, 5.6, 3.0.   You have to like that trend!    The walks are still a big issue, but when you're not allowing any hits it's more manageable.

Until this season, I would have thought going three innings would have prepared him to be an Orioles starter. B|

I have not seen as dominating a minor league performance as I did from Tanner in Person last night since watching Bundy at Frederick. Watching his PRE game bullpen was stunning. His fastball sounded like the crack of a whip.
