DFA Ubaldo

Ubaldo is the guy that never goes away.  I feel like were watching the same thing over and over again. Starter, bullpen, mop up duty, starter, bullpen, mop up duty.

Btw, why the hell was he in a 1 run game Buck, sigh.

Who did you have available?

Pretty much what Buck said in his postgame presser.

On why he used Jiménez: “As opposed to who? That’s it. We’re not going to use Mike Wright, he had two days in a row. Darren and Brachy (Brad Brach) aren’t going to pitch unless we’re ahead. We’re trying to stay away from them. (Mychal) Givens was a no-go tonight. So we had Bleier and them and that’s where we were.

This is the part I don't agree with "Darren and Brachy aren't going to pitch unless we're ahead."

I don't care for putting a certain segment off limits like that.  Late innings of a one run game they shouldn't be off the table.  I'd rather see Brach used there over a three run "save".

If Brach and O'Day hadn't been used the day before, maybe.    But since you don't want to use them 3 days in a row if you can help it, you don't pitch them on back to back days if you're losing on the second day, even if it's close.

90% chance that we are losing in the late innings today.

We are pretty fresh off a 7 game losing streak 4 - 14 stretch where they weren't used much.

We have an off day on Monday.

We are the home team, one swing away from tying the game up.

Play to win the game and the series vs a division opponent!

I read it as that is a guiding principle in how Buck uses his pen.

You can't carry Hart and then say this. Get another RHP up here. Hart is a struggling lefty specialist.  Basically we had no RHP for a sitiation like last night. What if we were up in the 6th inning and the Sox had their RH up? No Givens and Wright so who then?

I am tired of the Orioles letting Ubaldo tie their hands, enough.  He has cost them in millions of ways and last night is another example. He isn't cut out for that type of situation.

I expect (and hope) Ubaldo will be DFA today or Tuesday, with Edwin Jackson joining the team.

You know they will never DFA Ubaldo, right? It would be unprecedented for the O's to DFA someone they owe millions to.

I'm not sure Jackson would be better than whomever they put on the Norfolk shuttle.

No one can be sure, but it might be better than letting him walk. With the team settling into having a 7-man bullpen, I suspect Buck would like to have assigned roles for these guys. If Jackson doesn't do the job, let him go.
