Last call for stating your approval.

Multiple choice. :)

Again, choose the player(s) that you would approve of for Jordan to draft in the first round, based on what you know.

1. Pedro Alvarez

2. Tim Beckham

3. Justin Smoak

4. Brian Matusz

5. Eric Hosmer

6. Buster Posey

7. Gordon Beckham

Any of those 7 if Jordan believed them to be the best pick.

edit: in order of preference.

You know GBeck may just be a heck of a SS in the bigs. He likely won't be an Oriole, but I wish him luck. :)

I would approve of any of them because Jordan likely would deem that player as the guy to take.

I don't want us to draft Matusz but that doesn't mean I think he will flop or something like that....I just think there is better talent out there.

I wouldn't draft a pitcher this high unless they were a Prior-like talent or the other positional talent would be a reach at this pick.

In order of preference:

Alvarez

Beckham

Smoak

Matusz

Hosmer

I would personally be disappointed if we draft Crow, Posey, or G. Beckham. Although i'd probably very quickly get excited after hearing Jordan express his opinions on any of these guys.

We agree... just because we don't "approve" of a player right away, he'll become one we'll root for and love in no time flat. :)

This hints at the quandary, no?

If Jordan feels Matusz will at least be a three and has a 75% strong chance as a 2 or better, Matucz is the guy.

OTOH, it's so tempting to take this pick, ignore the premium pitching and HS talent, and drop this strong college bat in the middle of the lineup at 1B - a position of futile production for several years.

On the third hand, it's been several years since the Os may have a legit shot at a consensus HS SS talent like TBeck.

Jordan has had strong success with early round college pitching talent (Olson, Arrieta) and early round college hitters (Wieters, Riemold).

It's too close to call, IMO.

To me, its a no brainer...The pick should be Tbeck, Smoak, Hosmer or Alvarez...At least one of those 4 will be there when we draft.

We should take one of those.

If the team passes on Alvarez or TBeckham for someone else, I'd be disappointed. But if the team ends up with any player on this list, I can't complain. I think the team should go with a hitter. But in 3 years, I couldn't tell you who will be the best player of this group. And I'll trust, for better or worse, in the decision of the front office will be a good one.

I admire how you straddle that line that insists on taking the BPA as long as it's a position prospect.
