Still nice to hear.    Should Austin Hays be insulted?

Austin Hays is a fully developed adult.

Mountcastle is still a lanky kid.  He could be scary (from a power standpoint) when he does fill out.

It will be interesting to see where those two end up on national lists at the end of the season. You gotta think they will both be inside the top 100.  Top 50 though?

Wells and Ring should come up to Frederick.

Wells has started to get hit hard his past few starts and was dealing with an injury earlier in the season. Let him stay in Delmarva for now and keep tossing.

Ring would be a good option to come up to take over Hays spot. Unless they take Mercedes off the temporary restricted list and put him in the outfield.

Why is Mercedes on the temporary restricted list?

Yaz had a similar rise in 2014, but he was a 2 full years older, and the numbers weren't as dominant.  We haven't had very many top 100 position prospects in the last 30 years.  I think we have one here.

Mancini was never on the top 100 list and look what he is doing.

He's making those lists look pretty foolish.     Still, there's a decent correlation between major league success and being on those lists.     Davis, Schoop, Hardy, Machado and Jones were all on such lists; Trumbo, Smith, Castillo and Mancini weren't.

From mlbpipeline.com last year

"Mancini has an advanced feel for hitting, as his strong hands and wrists give him excellent barrel control and allow him to utilize the entire field. His natural approach is to stay up the middle of the field or go the other way, and he's strong enough to drive the ball over the fence to any part of the park. He started turning on the ball more in 2015, and it in turn helped him tap into his plus raw power with greater frequency. Mancini also does a good job managing the strike zone, and the Orioles love his ability to process the game and make swift adjustments.

Mancini doesn't have much athleticism to his frame and is a below-average runner, but he's worked hard to become at least an average defender at first base. With his potential to hit for average and power, Mancini has the makings of a prototypical first baseman. For now, however, his path to Baltimore is being blocked by Chris Davis."

I'd say it's pretty acurate.  I think he's a little more athletic than what they give him credit for.  He had been putting up big numbers in AA, A, so despite that he was still never top 100.

If the Os's had put him in the outfield his chances of making a top 100 list would have higher.  The offensive bar at first/dh is just very high.
