PressBoxOnline
Rich Dubroff looks at the domino effect the injuries to Zach Britton and Darren O'Day have created for the Orioles' bullpen, and he says once Britton and O'Day return from the DL, the bullpen should again become a strength.https://www.pressboxonline.com/2017/06/21/injuries-to-zach-britton-darren-oday-a-major-factor-in-orioles-pitching-woes
sportsfan8703
Buck doesn't use his A squad relievers in games were losing. Especially down the runs we've been recently. The SP has made the BP a non factor. During the last 40 games we've played in a lot of clunkers. These aren't the one run games that we were playing in the beginning of the year. Lucky_13
I'm not sure you can blame bullpen injuries when the starters are consistently failing to go four innings. Hunter was trying to make the same argument on TV last night and it just makes no sense.
Aglets
Average innings per start for our SP this month: Ubaldo: (1 start that went 7 innings, w00t) Asher: 5 per start Bundy: 5 per start Gausman: 5 per start Miley: 4.5 per start Tillman: 4 per start So yea that's a lot of bullpen innings, basically half of every game. LookitsPuck
Eh. If the starters weren't giving up 5-7 runs a game and leaving by the 4th inning (5th inning if we're lucky) every start..it wouldn't expose the rest of the bullpen as much. Even still, who cares about the bullpen being a strength? Suddenly a 10 run game becomes a 5 run game? You think the offense can routinely score more than 5 runs a game? Aglets
We are scoring 4.56 per game so far this year. Looks like that puts us as the 11th ranked offense in the AL. That's a regression from last year (7th).
Aglets
Positive spin time! More evidence at how awesome Buck is. We have the worst pitching staff in the American League, a below-average offense, and are still playing .500 ball!
