Cameron Bishop

Late overslot draft signing made his debut today in the GCL. 3 innings, no earned runs, one hit, and one strikeout. He faced the minimum number of batters.

The key stat to me though is he had 7 groundball outs and 0 flyball outs.

I know that it was against some weaker competition, but that's impressive nonetheless.

Bishop was promoted to Aberdeen and pitched 2.2 scoreless innings today, though he was a bit fortunate, allowing 2 hits and 4 walks, including 3 walks in the third.    He benefited from an outfield assist in the 2nd inning when a runner (who had walked)!tried to go 1st to 3rd on a single.   Also, his first walk in the 3rd inning was erased on a DP.    After that, he walked the next hitter, allowed him to steal 2B, wild pitched him to 3B, walked that batter and was yanked.   The reliever, Joe Johnson, was able to induce a fly out from Brendan McKay, the no. 4 overall pick in this year's draft.

It's interesting to see that McKay hasn't pitched yet, I'm pretty sure the consensus was that he has a better future as a pitcher.

Not a scout - so will start with "What Tony said".  When I saw him on Saturday, I would add that he works pretty fast.  His delivery seemed very comfortable and fluid to me.  Pretty strong legs to drive into his pitches.

It may be a level or two before he starts to get tested by the hitters IMO.
