The Nick Markakis 2,000th hit countdown thread

I figure you guys are waiting for me to say it again so I will.........should have never let him go.  The time we have wasted on RF'ers when we should have kept Nick

For what it's worth, there are 9 members of the 3,000 hit club who had fewer hits than Nick through their age 33 season: Boggs, Palmeiro, Brock, Henderson, Ichiro, Biggio, Winfield, Gwynn and Molitor.    But I suspect there are a couple dozen guys who got their 2,000th hit at a younger age than Nick and didn't reach 3,000.

Honestly, I think he could go on getting 160+ hits forever if he played 155+ games a year as he always has, but I don't think he's likely to be a full-time regular much longer due to his lack of speed and power.    The Braves have a good prospect in the minors who is expected to get a lot of playing time next year, and they already have Kemp and Incarte.  So, Nick's ability to get to 2500 hits will be dependent on how much playing time he gets in the future, keeping in mind that he's not under contract after 2018.   Incidentally, Nick has played every game this year.

Nick passed Ken Singleton and Lee May on the hits list this week.    He's been hot lately, hitting .319/.396/.471 over his last 37 games.   

I think there's a good chance the Braves will try to trade Nick this offseason to make room for Acuna, who's one of the five finalists for MiL player of the year.

And Hays is on the BA list, which includes Hays, Acuna, Bo Bichette, Vlad Guerrero Jr. and Jon Duplantier.

In my rat's ass of an opinion, this is very similar to the way that he was when he played for the Orioles.between 2006 and 2014.
