The O's starters are not going to go too many more innings.  Bundy should be shut down as soon as the O's are out of it.     When most pitchers can only going a couple of innings the O's will need more arms.    I would actually consider DFAing Pedro and calling up Wotherspoon.  There are three weeks of games yet to play.

Crichton is horrible, but I see your point.    Still too soon to give up on the season, though.
