Tyler Chatwood was signed by the Cubs.

Another pitcher who would of been a good fit. That makes 3 so far.

Chatwood, Minor and Milokas.

I would have liked Chatwood too. Oh well.

Wonder if that means they are no longer in on Cobb.

I don't think it will stop them.  They had two holes to fill.  Lester, Hendricks, Quintana, Chatwood, Cobb

Good signing for the Cubs.  The Cubs are a desirable team to play for... might've taken more than 3 years 38 to get him to Baltimore.

Anyone else surprised by the 3/$38M price tag? I expected the three years, but I was surprised at the AAV. I was expected somewhere in the 3/$27M range.

I agree. Just posted this in the other thread:

3/38M seems a little high for Chatwood. If he would have come to Baltimore on the same terms I would have been ok with it but not overjoyed. MLBTR projected him at 3/20M which is absurd. 3/30M is where I would be happy. Great groundball numbers and an above average fastball, but his walk rate is around 4 and his K/BB is around 1.5 which is not impressive.

Chatwood has been a Walk machine for his entire professional career ....... both in the Majors AND in the Minors.

Last season, he had a career high 4.693 Walks-Per-9 Innings ratio.

If the Orioles are going to spend money on free agent starting pitchers, I would prefer that it not be that type of pitcher. We just watched Wade Miley dance in and out and in and out and in and out of trouble (usually more "in" than "out") this past season. I would prefer not to see something similar to that again, and I certainly wouldn't want the Orioles to be spending any significant amount of payroll money to bring somebody like that into the current mess of a starting rotation that they have.

I hope he plays the waiting game with Vargas and he is gone before the O's can do anything

+1, same with Lynn. These guys don't do anything for me.

I am expecting Cashner and trading Manny in July and frankly that wouldn't be a terrible outcome. Better than an Ubaldo type of contract that we might regret.

I hate this time of the year. Have to wait around and I get sick of the rumor mill. I actually enjoy discussion about team building in general but not this time on the calendar.

I don’t care who the GM is, nothing is going to change under this owner. Andy and DD overall did a better job dealing with their limitations then the people before them.
