Thank you so much for the info. Keep it coming. What is his contact like? Will he be a free agent soon?

This is his last year of arb eligiblility.  I like Corbin, wish he was under contract for longer.

Os and Dbacks have had dialogue regarding a deal for LHP Patrick Corbin.

Assume Dbacks are most interested in Brach.

This would be a decent trade if we are "re-tooling".

Did Corbin pitch well last year? Is he injury prone?

Missed all of 2014 and half of 2015 after TJS.  119 ERA+ last year.  Not the worst idea.

Wouldn't the Orioles have to give up more then Brach? Corbin was decent last year, a lefty and will make around 5 or 6 million.

I'm not sure how much it would take to get him, but this is definitely the most encouraging name we've been linked to. Corbin's a good pitcher. The Diamondback's need a closer so I'm sure they're interested in Britton or Brach. It's a shame we can't pry Archie Bradley away from them and convert him back to a SP.

Two years of a league average LH starter for one year of Brach.  Would have to be more from O's side.

I may be wrong, but I think he is a FA in 2019.

If the orioles are going to trade Brach, Corbin makes more sense than Harvey. Although if we get Harvey in another deal, that would give us a pretty young rotation with a decent amount of potential. Then sign Vargas

I stand corrected on the service time. Still think it takes more than Brach.

I agree with you.  Would be nice if Corbin had two years though, seems like a solid K guy, decent numbers.

    • By some defensive metrics, Ryan Mountcastle and 2024 Gold Glove winner Carlos Santana are similar:  https://www.fieldingbible.com/drs-leaderboard/players?position=3 FWIW Luis Castillo's value at Baseball Trade Values has jumped from a negative $30.6 million on November 8, to a negative $6.1 million on November 22, to a positive $5.5 million on December 2 to a positive $2.8 million Monday to a positive $7.7 million Friday evening. The Mariners will continue to monitor Castillo's trade value as the pitching market evolves this offseason. Trade offers should determine Castillo's trade value although his no-trade clause complicates matters.
    • Context matters.  Really I should have made a much longer post incorporating the following image.   The O's are roughly 20th in revenue.  (TBH, I have some questions about that.  I think it might be lower) They're currently 19th in payroll.  Is it really fair to say they're underspending?  (Mind you this chart is a few years older.) There are a lot of people claiming they can spend 200 a year on salary.  Maybe.  But it's fair to say team's with similar payrolls don't do that.
    • This is true, but the problem remains if you sign some guy to a 7 year contract, while that money might be palatable in 2026, it could quickly grow not so in the upcoming years.  Obviously, if you could sign Burnes for 1/2 years you'd do it; but that isn't really an option.
    • What happened in the 2nd half w Adley is puzzling. I would say however that 17 mill in 2027 should be more like 10% of the payroll, so far more palatable than 20%.
    • You have to look at payroll in context though thinking 3 years in advance compared to what league average will be with revenue increasing.  This is league average payroll.   2019 112 million 2020 58 million but was Covid year. 2021 120 million 2022 134 million 2023  150 million 2024 156 million So league average is up 36 million 4 years.  If it keeps around that pace league average should be over 180 million so that 100 million would be little over half of league average payroll.
    • This is drastically underestimating Paredes
    • they did not. 2 big moves so far, bring in Fried and Williams, but lose Holmes anf Cortez, Not to mention Soto. Oblivious there not yet but as it stands now they are not as good. and god forbid Stanton regresses or Judge gets hurt.
