Matos & Bigbie

Young & Gerhart

Are our current promising outfielders more likely to reach their promise than those promising outfielders of the past who crashed and burned?

Someone reassure me, please.

different players, very different management in the organization.   The guy we should have kept who was on the same Orioles top prospect list in 2000 as Luis Matos  was our number 4 prospect in 2000... Jayson Werth.   Perhaps our promising outfielders will turn out more like him if we hang on to them.

Roberts Gibbons Palmiero Sosa Cust Tejada Kevin Brown  Javy Lopez Jason Grimsley

ON that team.

And that's just the ones we knew about.

Kevin Brown was on that team?

Neither Matos nor Bigbie was as highly regarded as Hays when they were in the minors.     Matos was a career .719 OPS hitter in the minors.   Bigbie was better — .791 — and maybe you could argue he was comparable to Stewart (he was, after all, the no. 21 overall pick).

I'm very bullish on both Stewart and Hays.  I can see them both becoming solid Major League ballplayers.  I'm a little less bullish on Mullins though I hope he proves me wrong.
