So basically, Paul stole my idea.   Where’s my share of the royalties? xD

I thought the same as soon as I read the title. Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, Frobby.

I'm psyched for Paul's next article:  "The 100 Most Significant Moments in Orioles History"

Great minds think alike! Which players/trades did you cover in your thread?

The OP covered Adrian Gonzalez and Matt Holliday, and requested that posters add others.     I think all of yours got covered, plus a couple of others that didn’t meet your criteria.   But not at the level of detail you supplied.

Which is what DD has been saying for the past few seasons, when asked about it on the radio, about fan interest in trading somebody in their walk year.

He said, generally it doesn't work out well for the sellers.

Which thanks to Frobby & Paul, there are some clear cases out there to support this.

I wouldn’t say only one in five worked out.   Holliday for CarGo and Street clearly did.    I’d argue Santana for Gomez worked out well, except that the Twins chose to trade Gomez — he produced 16 WAR in the six years he would have been under team control.   Heyward for Miller worked out pretty well — Miller was an all-star worth 3.6 WAR, pitching to a 3.02 ERA in 205 IP and then got traded for a boatload of talent.   The Padres got Anthony Rizzo (26.1 WAR in just under 6 years of service time) in the Adrian Gonzalez trade, but they traded him away to the Cubs a year later.     Really, only the Upton trade didn’t return any significant talent (at least, that’s been proven, though I kind of like Mallex Smith).
