He’s laughing off the idea of playing LF. That should let a lot of posters know that AJ, it resigned, plans on playing CF.

I haven’t read a lot of AJ’s twitter since the CD contract, but he is tweeting a lot and now saying everything is out of his hands. Very different than the Davis offseason.

AJ has hated ownership ever since they took his pies away, and rightfully so. I hate bosses who make mountains out of mole hills.

I thought that was the two lame squares on the team?  Trumbo and MW.

Yeah but they don't make team policies

He is basically hanging ownership out to dry, and in my eyes preparing fans for his imminent departure if things don't change. I mean good for him.

It's a bit concerning for me because the last comments I remember him making about ownership were about positive talks they were having about the future in the offseason (either 2016 or 2015 offseason).

Now it feels like he is a less of a partner, more of an outsider, and ready to bolt. Which sucks, but just brings us back to Peter GD Angelos.

I don't necessarily mind if Adam leaves. It may be best for us and him. But it just feels like there is a complete lack of a plan for the future of the franchise. And we've seen this crap before.

Angelos isn't cheap, as much as he is a meddler, who interferes at the worst times. It feels like he continues to not let his baseball people make decisions.

Part of me felt that we had moved on from those days. But 20 years later, 2017 is starting to feel like 1997.

Adam is a great personality.  Could anyone else see him being a future Manager?  I think he'll be on TV as an analyst the minute he retires, but I would be curious to see if he could manage.

I know I'm about 4 years ahead of the curve here, but just wondering.

I Dont know.  He seems to really care.  Really.  About people, about the team, about the city about the game.  I can't imagine how awful it must feel to see his prime squandered when he has done everything right and done everything he can to help build a team against the multitude of mistakes ownership has made.  He has remained the face of the franchise, the leader of the team, and an MLB star (one of two we have with Manny) despite all the bad.  Most players of his age and talent would  have soured or demanded a trade year ago.

Thats my long way of saying I think he would be an amazing manager but I bet he just goes and starts a foundation in San Diego helping to better communities.

Let me first say I am an Adam Jones fan. Think he is a hard worker and has been great for the Orioles. But I am an old school thinker on this: while I don't usually agree with the direction the team moves as far as offseason strategy and future planning, I think sharing this information publicly is uncalled for. It makes it about you, and for me that takes away some respect I have for him. Meet with management and hold them accountable, fine. But stay off twitter with this stuff. It is bad for the future of the team, and it makes him look selfish. Again, this is just one persons opinion.

I get where you're coming from, but I'm guessing this is sort of a last resort. I know Adam used to meet with ownership regularly. That's why this is alarming to me. Can't change a crusty old man. And it looks like we are headed back down a cliff.

I know that Adam is/was pretty close to Angelos. I don't get the feeling that he likes Duquette very much. Most likely because players talk and Duquette is beyond socially awkward....and has a tendency to just be cold/stiff towards players, especially free agents.

I wonder if this all stems from the Dexter Fowler debacle that Duquette screwed the pooch on?

Are you saying it sucks because an aging player with declining skills feels like he doesn't have any say in personnel decisions? You said in the next sentence that you don't mind if Jones leaves, so why do you think it's bad that Angelos won't listen to Jones? Didn't Jones want Davis re-signed?

Angelos is probably the worst owner in MLB, and he's a poor man's Steinbrenner when it comes to meddling. But he would be a worse owner if he let players decide what decisions should be made.

Someone else in this thread said Jones "laughed off" the idea of playing LF. Apparently he thinks he will make on-field decisions.

The O's would be better off without Jones and Angelos.

Baseball is a business, we had the 10th highest payroll in MLB last year.  we are not a team that can afford a $350MM player, Jones should recognize this

Jones needs to stop playing arm chair GM and work on his own game and try and be a better player in '18.

I highly doubt speaking out on Twitter is precluding Jones from working on his game.

I think he has hated them before they didn't bring back Cruz or improve the team after 2014 when it seemed like we were one or two pieces away from being a WS contender.

Could be wrong, but I don't think the pies had anything to do with Angelos. He stopped it after Trumbo clearly didn't like it.
