Ariel Miranda an ace?

MLB Zach Crizer has Miranda with potential to become an ace. i always heard he was considered a fourth or fifth starter at best.  Can someone fix the name in the header please? Thanks

All pitchers that are MLB capable, aren't that far away from being an ace, sometimes, its just a lightbulb moment and presto.

Nobody thought Jake Arrieta was an ace, he had good stuff at times, but not ace, until he fixed his hiccup in his gettyup.

Look at Zach Britton, very similar good stuff at times, too erratic to be an ace, he figures out what he needs to do, and become dominate closer.

Ubaldo had ace-line stuff, when he had his A-Game on, but sadly, he could never bring his A-Game most of the time.

Ed-Rod was thought to be 4th or 5th starter, wasn't listening to coaches, or getting bad coaching advice. Moves to different times, has his awe moment, and now he is a much better pitcher. Will he be an ace? That jury is still out.

Curt Schilling was not an Ace here, was still learning how to pitch in the bigs, finally figured it out and became a legit ace.

I think that’s aggressive. I’m not doing a deep dive into Ariel Miranda’s numbers but it looks to me like he gave up 37 bombs in 160 innings pitched. Plus he plays for Seattle and I believe that’s a pitching friendly park. Decent K numbers.

I don’t see it. It’s not like he’s a 21 year old kid with a swift ascension ahead of him.

Your belief appears to be correct.  His ERA in Seattle home games:  3.95 with a terrific 1.08 WHIP.  On the road:  6.42 ERA with a 1.48 WHIP.

Don't get me wrong, when I watched Miranda in AA I was a fan. Good polished Cuban pitcher. Not young. Not strong. But a guy who could pitch.

It doesn’t surprise me that he’s a credible back of the rotation major league starter.    I strongly disagree that he’ll ever be an ace or anything close.

He isn't bad, but we'd be complaining about him not being able to pitch here and how the O's can't develop pitching if was still with us
