We Couldn't Match for Colon?

In hindsight, the Mets got premier value for the 3 seasons in which Colon pitched for them, and got out just in time to make those 3 seasons a steal for them.

Colon had 3 solid seasons for them from 2014 through 2016 for a grand total of $27.25 Million.

He signed a 2-year deal with them for a total of $20 Million for the 2014 and 2015 seasons, then signed a 1-year deal with them for $7.25 Million for the 2016 season ...... at that point the Mets decided to leave well-enough alone for their dealings with the 44 year-old pitcher, and (based on the results of his 2017 season) it wound up being the prudent decision.

You didn't see the big news yesterday?

Forty man is full up.

I can't wait for the Orioles to sweep the World Series in 4 games!

But seriously, I'm surprised they couldn't lure him with this. Certainly a Boog sandwhich could of won him over?

The money wouldn't of been big and they NEED a 4th starter (or even third) as the 5th spot will be taken by a Cortes/Mesa/Wright/Ynoa/Castro spot.

Texas only gave him a minor league contract with a guaranteed 1.75m if he makes the Opening Day team. With a team as desperate as us, we couldn't do this?

I would have thought so.

After the season he had last year I'm glad we didn't. Plenty of guys still available that could give us better than he probably could.

What makes you think that matching someone else's offer is all that's necessary to lure a pitcher to Baltimore?
