The goal of the Orioles is to be competitive, not necessarily win anything. What I have heard is that they just don't another 14 more years of malaise...avoid that.

Problem is, by not trading Britton, Manny, etc. that may be what they get ironically.

It's already a bargain just based on similar pitchers and their value. $5 million for this year? Less than Gausman.

I never thought Trumbo was a bargain.  I didn't anticipate Trumbo being so bad last year, but didn't think he was necessary with Mancini and Kim being on the team at the time.  

Trumbo is a one trick pony and gives you nothing defensively.

Wow. if they chose to sign Cashner to a two year deal as opposed to Garcia on a one year deal that's just unforgivable. I actually think Garcia is a better pitcher too.

I have to admit, I had the exact same feeling about this being Trumbo 2.0. They give a multi-year deal to a player coming off a career year (era wise) despite what his history and the deeper stats indicate. Sure smells the same to me.

Cashner's peripherals don't look good, I expect regression in 2018.  Plus he is getting thrown to the wolves of the AL East.
