All 10 outs that Cashner recorded came via the Strikeout and the Groundout.

3 Free Passes (2 Walks and 1 Hit Batsman) over 3.33 Innings Pitched.

An error by 3rd baseman Danny Valencia started the 4th inning, and the floodgates began to open after that ........ reliever Luis Gonzalez came in and promptly picked a runner off of 3rd base, and then struck out Mike Yastrzemski to end the inning.

One of the 2 singles that Cashner ceded was on a bunt.

Mike Yastrzemski reached safely in both of his plate appearances against Cashner (a walk and a single) before the strikeout at the hands of Luis Gonzalez.

The overall pitch-count was provided by Steve Melewski.

(TEN DAYS LATER)

Cashner has rebounded very nicely since his 2018 season inaugural start.

The only negative has been that he has given up 7 free passes (6 Walks and 1 hit Batsman) over 13 innings pitched in that span (his 2 most recent starts.)

In his last 2 starts combined Cashner has an ERA of 1.38, a WHIP of 0.923, and his opponents' cumulative batting average is .143.

I just heard it from a buddy. I didn't see any thread about it on here. Please delete if necessary.

(ALMOST 5 MONTHS LATER)

We're a little beyond the halfway point of the season, and Cashner has pitched reasonably well overall.

His ERA is right around where the Orioles were probably hoping that it would be, although his WHIP is rather high.

In addition to 9 quality starts, he also had an outing in which he threw 4 shutout innings against the Nationals on June 20th prior to a rainstorm aborting said start.

Out of his 17 starts overall, he has had only 4 which would be considered useless or almost useless (not giving the team at least a reasonably good chance to win the game.)

I was just looking back at the incentives in Cashner’s deal.    Unfortunately, I can’t find an exact breakdown anymore, but he had incentives for making 10, 15, 20 and 30 starts, and for every 10 inning mark from 110 to 200.   I know that at 30 starts, 160 innings he’d earn $3.4 mm in incentives.    Right now he’s on pace for 32 starts, 177 innings, so he’d do a little better than $3.4 mm if he keeps it up.    He also has an option that vests if he throws 340 innings in 2018-19, and he’s currently on pace to meet that.

I found the incentives on Cot’s.

Starts: $250 k each for 10 and 15, $625 k for 20,  $400 k for 30.

Innings: $250 k each for 110 and 120, $275 k for 130, $350 k for 140, $750 k for 150, $400 k each for 160, 170, 180, 190 and 200.

So, if he continues on his 32 start, 177 inning pace, he’d earn $3.8 mm in incentives.   He’s already earned $500 k by making 15 starts.
