Corey Dickerson DFA

In a strange, questionable move, the Rays DFA Corey Dickerson after acquiring CJ Cron from the Angels for a PTBNL.

Did the Orioles just find their Left Handed bat? He hit .282/.325/.490 last year and played a decent LF. Maybe a Odorizzi/Dickerson package deal? Then do whatever is necessary to offload Trumbo.

Beat me by a minute.  Something odd here hit .282 and 27 homers.

Yeah, worth 2.6 fWAR, 2.7 bWAR, and 3.9 WARP (baseball prospectus's FRAA loves him as a LFer).

The O's don't need another left fielder or DH.   The left-handed bat if they add one will be someone that can play CF,  RF.and LF

The fit isn't perfect by any means, but when a good player becomes available at pennies on the dollar, you try and take advantage of it.

Not feeling it unless O's can offload Trumbo and play Dickerson at DH. We need a defensive upgrade in RF.

Why would you DH Dickerson and put Mancini in left when you could DH Mancini and put Dickerson in left?

They can put him back on the 40 within the next 10 days.

I don't think so.  I'm pretty sure that they have 10 days to trade him or place him on waivers.  I would think that they could probably find a trade partner, but if not, he seems to be worth a claim to me.  Seems like I'd rather have him that whoever is #40 on our 40-man right now.  Of course, my guess is he wouldn't make it to us, as he seems like a guy that teams above us in the waiver order would claim.

He won't make it to waivers, it'll take a trade.

So at least two of the pieces going back need to be on the 40 man?

This is the only name they’ve mentioned so far...

The Twins have acquired Jake Odorizzi from the Rays, Marc Topkin of the Tampa Bay Times reports (Twitter link).  Shortstop prospect Jermaine Palaciosis one of the players going back to the Rays in return, FanRag Sports’ Jon Heyman reports.  Yahoo Sports’ Jeff Passan reported earlier tonight that the two clubs had agreed to some sort of a trade.
