Dyson isn't the only LH OF in the sea but I would have really liked him on that deal.

Nope...Dyson is getting 3.5M each year with a 500K bonus.  I'm not a huge Dyson fan, but I definitely would have paid this for him.

We’ve been missing a Nats mcclouth type. Jay could be that guy. Play RF this year and CF next year.

Dyson would have been a great sign at 2 for 7.5.  Missed the boat on that one....again.

As much as DD has been going on about a left handed outfielder you would expect him to get that deal done.  Maybe Dyson wanted to play a lot of centerfield.

O's  probably only want an outfielder for one year.   They may not want to block Mullins.

DD couldn't sign Dyson because clearly some other team wanted him.

DD only signs players that would not be signed by any other team in the majors, see Tillman, Gallardo, Trumbo, etc.
