This issue of Showalter's "guys" has been discussed in other threads. His guys are players and coaches.

Actually, three made the decision to leave.

Connor - decided to retire mid season.

Adair - took a personal leave of absence in August 2013 and never returned.

Castro - finished out the season as interim pitching coach and was replaced.

Wallace - served three years and had to be talked into remaining for the third year.    Left by his own choice.

McDowell - still there.

So, the only pitching coach who Buck replaced was Castro, and he was only serving on an interim basis in the first place.    He wasn’t hired to be the pitching coach.
