Lost in the Richie Sexson stuff today was that the M's called up Tug Hulett to replace him. Most of us will remember when Tim Hulett's son Sam was killed back in 1992 when he was hit by a car. Congrats to the Hulett's. Hope the kid sticks around for a while.

That's great to hear. I have his Frisco RoughRiders road jersey from 2006. The people down there really liked him a lot. Thought he was a great kid.

Oddly enough I also have Ruddy Yan's RoughRiders home jersey from that same season.

Ruddy Yan! I remember a scout hanging around the press box in Trenton before a game last August, filling out his scorecard with the lineups for the Baysox and Trenton Thunder. Before he left the press box he quipped, "It ain't baseball, without Ruddy Yan hitting leadoff.."

Funny thing was, Ruddy had two or three hits that day. The next time that scout was around for a Baysox game, radio guy Steve Smith made sure he respected the prowess of one, Ruddy Yan. Though, while on the subject, Ruddy did in fact make the final out of Radhames Liz' no-hitter last year in Bowie. It was a great catch he made, going back towards the corner of the left field foul area. One of the few interesting tidbits on Ruddy and his time spent in the Orioles organization.

I dont know what kind of prospect he is, but let's hope Seattle gives him a chance to see what he can do. That team is an absolute mess, so I'm sure they can afford to give him a shot.
Mariners designated infielder Tug Hulett for assignment.

Hulett, who hit .224/.309/.306 in 49 at-bats for the Mariners last season, goes to open up a roster spot for Luis Pena. He looked like a pretty good bet to make the Mariners as a utilityman before the Ronny Cedeno acquisition, but he's strictly a fringe player. If he clears waivers, he'll still get his chance to compete for a job on Seattle's bench.

Maybe there is still a chance for him.
