That said, I still don’t get it.

They sent him back and he couldn't play well enough for a promotion.

Well, this goes back to the argument a couple of weeks ago about whether the O’s wouid even be capable of spending $8.5 mm is slot money if they failed to sign VVM.   This suggests the answer is, no way.

Don’t most players retire in this situation?  He’s 24 in 6 weeks. This is basically what we got in return for Brach. The whole intl signing bonus pool money was completely misread by us on the OH. We just acquired it to make moves like this.

No, that’s a overreaction to a small move of small assets.
