Takashi Saito out at least 6 weeks. Any interest in Sherrill?

Man, I really like Scott, but nobody in the industry of baseball will agree with you that Scott is a more valuable commodity than Kemp. Thats pure crazy talk.
I'm not saying Scott is more valuable, although I believe Kemp is over rated here, I am saying Scott will be as productive or better for the next 3-4 years. AJ is more valuable than Tori Hunter but he might not be as producive for the next few years.

Sherril and a lesser prospect may, repeat may get you Laroche. If you want Kemp and Kershaw, they will probably laugh or you better also talk about guys like Tillman, Arietta on top of Sherril.

I think Laroche can be had. The Dodgers seem to be souring on him. Maybe the question is can we can a little something more. I still would love to see us push for Kemp. An outfield from left to right of Kemp, Jones and Markakis.....I could live with that one for the next 10 years.

I think we should step away from these mega trades that will never happen and concentrate on possibilities. After last night's performance I could comfortably say that I believe Sherrill could land us both LaRoche/DeWitt and DeJesus. Now that right there is a big boost to our future infield which has little to no depth and DeJesus profiles to stick at short and could be a very good table setter alongside Roberts with his speed and .371OBP in AA.

Now Huff also makes sense for the Dodgers but that is when things get a little silly. Huff, by himself, is worth 2 quality prospects and the Dodgers have plenty. McDonald is the pitcher the O's need to target first and foremost but it is true the Dodgers have soured on Kemp and he has problems with the front office. Sherrill and Huff for LaRoche, DeJesus, and Kemp isn't out of the question but if we add in a young pitcher I think that deal gets done.

Sherrill, Huff, Spoone -LaRoche, DeJesus, Kemp

SS is the LAD's most glaring need now They may have to bring up DeJesus to fill in. I doubt they trade him. Maybe Hu.

Be careful what you wish for. I'd settle for LaRoche and Hu.

If we could solve LF, SS and 3B with exciting young upside talent, I would personally drive Tillman and Arrietta to the airport - especially considering the bad luck we've had developing young pitchers:)

We aren't talking abotu Kemp for Scott...We are talking about Kemp in a huge package for another big package.

Right. You're talking about some 9-player mega-deal... at the deadline.

When has anything like that ever happened?

As long as you're dreaming, why stop at 9? Why not make it a 15-player deal?

You'd never make it without a police escort. Even then it might be tough. I'll personally be rolling tack strips out onto 195 if you tried this. :D

Why not? Huff is a huge upgrade over Dewitt and btw, Dewitt seems to be more well liked than LaRoche. LaRoche has seen his value really drop and the Dodgers seem to have soured on him.

Dewitt can also slide over to second if Kent continues to struggle some.

We can't get Kershaw though.

DeWitt may be more well-liked than LaRoche, but that's not where trade value comes from. It may make LaRoche more available than DeWitt, but it doesn't change his price tag. LaRoche still has more power and potential as a cornerstone player than DeWitt, so regardless of how the Dodgers feel about his personality or clubhouse presence, it shouldn't change what it takes to acquire him. This argument also applies to Matt Kemp. The Dodgers may be souring on him and his perceived attitude, but his talent and age will still command a large amount in a trade.

As for the Huff thing... yes, Huff is a big upgrade over DeWitt offensively, but defensively he's definitely a downgrade. Some might call it a leap of faith. He's impressed me with some of the plays he has made this year, but it's hard to refute the facts: 2006 is the only year he's played regularly at 3B and was anywhere near average defensively. In the 2 years since 2006 he's played only 28 games at 3B.

I guess if someone's scouts looks at Huff and convinces their front office that he can play 3B everyday, that he's improved there, then I can see him being dealt to fill a hole at 3B. But I see him more likely to serve as a 1B/DH bat and 3B insurance.

Just my opinion.

I believe the Dodgers are at the point where they are ready for LaRoche to "put up or shut up". He turns 25 in Sept., and they are probably ready for him to be their 3B now. If not... he can't be a prospect too much longer at that age.

Gotta get something for him while they can, or let's at least hope they feel that way soon.

Laroche is the guy I would target, not Kemp. Kemp's a fine talent, but we're better stocked in the outfield than at 3B.

If Sherrill for Laroche straight up doesn't work, then Sherrill and either Huff of Scott for Laroche, a SS and a pitching prospect should work. Or keep Huff/Scott and find a prospect to add to Sherrill.

It just keeps getting more and more obvious.

The Dodgers and Orioles match up so well.

AM should be talking to the Dodgers everyday until something gets done.

The problem is Ned Colletti. Who can deal with this guy? Until the Dodgers get rid of Colletti, we'd be very fortunate to do any kind of good deal with them.

Sherrill, Huff, and Scott for Kemp, LaRoche, McDonald, and DeJesus.

I wonder if we could do a Sherrill and Scott for Kemp and LaRoche.

Has anyone heard any indication the Dodgers might want to deal Kemp? I can't see it happening unless Colletti was forced out.

Colletti is always ready to deal young players for veterans. The front office turmoil results from the fact that Logan White has a lot of power and he along with McCourt have pulled the plug on some potentially putrid Dodgers deals.

LaRoche is the guy you should target from the Dodgers, he has not started more than two games in a row all season. Zero opportunity with the big club.

Minor League numbers are excellent.

One of Hu or DeJesus could be moved, most likely Hu.

Glad to see you on here....What do you think of the following guys in terms of the Dodgers needing them:

Huff- for third

Sherrill

Brian Roberts

What do you think about those guys for the Dodgers?

    • Tonight not so much.
    • Frustrating moment for Gausman (and his roto owners), he's closing in on 5 shutout innings but 1B Vlad seems to more or less just plain miss the throw from the 3B on a routine groundout two outs, man on 2nd to let run #1 in.  Maikel Garcia bloop, Bobby Witt doubles, and he's losing 3-2.
    • Hanging is too good for him.
    • I trained owned race horses for 25 years.  100s and 100s of them.   From bringing up and breaking yearlings who never raced and then racing them as a 2 and 3 year old.....to older war horses who raced 400 times and you keep them together and racing with everything under the kitchen sink.   One thing that as a race horse trainer was very easy to see, from the get go, was where to classify your horse as a yearling/maiden.  In  other words a horse who had either never raced or who had never won a race as a 2 and 3 year old.  Some horses show a lot of ability at the farm when training, but then when you get them to the actual races then are just too green.  Which means inexperienced.   They have no idea what they or doing or how to race.    I equate JH to this.   He has shown all kinds of ability on the farm....but when he got to the real deal he was completely over matched.  He looks like a HS player. When that happens with a race horse?  We race them at easier race tracks against less talented horses to get their feet wet.   To get their confidence.  I think we all, me included, way over rated JH's ability to perform at the ML level so early.   He needs to go back to the farm, grow up a little because he looks like a little kid, and come back when he has matured.
    • this start? I'm talking about last start. every ball was crushed.
    • Sorry I forgot about the demographics on this board 🤣.  I’ll do better next time.
