Baltimore Baseball: Some Facts and Thoughts on the New Executive

I hope Brady succeeds in whatever roll he decides to take on. But I'm starting to think he'd be better off proving himself in another organization. He doesn't seem willing to work beneath a GM here in Baltimore. So how does he get out of this limbo, between self-trained VP of blah-blah and legitimate, expertly mentored GM?

Seems like he could take on a personnel/scouting roll somewhere and work his way up. If he's any good, his name recognition should help propel him up the ladder quickly. If not, then not.

Hmmm.... a manager for $750K?   It all starts to make sense now.   Maybe Jack Zoellner is our next manager.

Maybe that will be the new trend...hire a 24 year old just a couple years out of college, he won't have been infected with all those un-analytical old school ideas like sac bunting, hitting line drives with little elevation, and starters going more than 4 innings.

Managers who made less than $1MM this season:

  • 24. Jeff Bannister, Texas Rangers: $950,000
  • 25. Torey Lovullo, Arizona Diamondbacks: $900,000
  • 26. Davey Martinez, Washington Nationals: $850,000
  • 26. Mickey Callaway, New York Mets: $850,000
  • 28. Gabe Kapler, Philadelphia Phillies: $803,000
  • 29. Alex Cora, Boston Red Sox: $800,000
  • 29. Scott Servais, Seattle Mariners: $800,000
  • 29. Brian Snitker, Atlanta Braves: $800,000
  • 32. @Jim Riggleman, Cincinnati Reds: $700,000 (prorated)
  • 32. @Mike Shildt, St. Louis Cardinals: $700,00 (prorated)
