Can't wait for the inevitable Sig Midol jokes when the honeymoon stage is over.  But I am excited about this guy, for sure.

Gimme a break.  Nobody here knows jack about this guy to be critical.  Nobody.  Not that it will stop someone, however.  When they do, they can paypal me some cash to buy a new BS detector, after blowing up my old one.

When you have great success with a smaller budget you are going to lose people.  As other teams think if they get some of their guys you will win too.

Sure, we see that all the time in every sport.   But when a guy like Mejdal leaves before he even has another job lined up, you have to think there’s a little more to the story.

Sig is well known. Great guy. Good communicator. He is sought after.

He was elbowed out.  He was being elbowed out for awhile.  Astros are moving forward with another group in the front office that remained in favor.  To some extent, it shows how stacked the front office was.  But, industry folks think Fast, Sig, and Elias were the big power guys in rebuilding that club.  Astros obviously disagree.

Well, hopefully their loss is our gain.

Mike Fast and Sig Mejdal both opted to let their contracts with the Astros expire after the season, and they are now among the most valuable free agents on the market this offseason. Brilliant minds who absolutely have their fingerprints all over that Astros WS trophy.

Looks like Hallahan was demoted too.

Ryan Hallahan, previously the club's senior architect, will take a new role as software development consultant.

Hallahan were among the few who worked to create Ground Control — the Astros’ homemade database which catered to the club’s every need. Hallahan, a computer programmer who once worked at STATS, Inc. held the title of senior technical architect.

Thanks for the insight.  Is there any indication that Fast joins Elias and Sig here?

It’s been reported that Hallahan is beginning a career in ministry, and is doing the consultant job during the transition.   https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.chron.com/sports/astros/amp/Astros-Bokhari-director-research-development-13378807.php
