Oh please.  The house has rules, don't hit on 17 or 18 or whatever.  It's not rocket science.

Knowing what's correct and doing the correct things are very different.

Hes probably referring to watching people fail over and over to superior strategy. Really cements to go with the #s

Probably teaches you not to drink and gamble.  Working at a Las Vegas casino black jack table would be pretty depressing.  No sunlight and everyone smoking and surrounded by drunks.

The thing I find interesting about Sig is that he said in an interview that the most important thing he learned from his time in baseball (I'm paraphrasing) was that you couldn't just collect, process, and analyze data. You had to communicate your results in a way that connected with baseball players and the coaches who teach those players. Without that communication, it's virtually useless.

Now it's one thing to say that, it's another to live it. In order to further his understanding of baseball and the players he was trying to reach, he rode the bus in the low minors as a bench coach in order to practice being on the front lines of presenting data to young players.

That's pretty cool.

It will be interesting to see what Sig’s title will be when his hiring is announced.  Will it be assistant GM or Director of Analytics?    If he’s Director of Analytics, that would allow Elias to hire another talented person to be assistant GM.  For that reason, I am hoping Sig is Director of Analytics and someone else is hired as assistant GM.  The more talented front office people we can bring in, the better!

I expect (no, I don't know) that his title will be very similar to whatever Brady's title is now.

You know he does not get to select his budget. Right?

If he is indeed unfettered than he should get an overall number from ownership and be allowed to divide it as he sees fit.

I can see the conversation now. "You have been a great assistant and your team has done a great job, but it is year four of the process and I need to buy some pitching"
