Hess is what he is. If he can hold down his walks, he gives the team a chance to win. He does get hit hard at times, but his control has been generally solid this season.

If he can throw hard, locate well, limit free passes and get taken deep on occasion (or relatively a little bit worse than average) he could wind up as a decent #3 or 4 option for a competitive team. That’s a very good result.

If he is going to become a good starting pitcher he needs to figure out how to get through the order a second time.  They were all over him.

The no hitter bid game....He did just that..  he mixed location and speed the second time through very effectively. Of course, it was the Jays, not the Yankees or Red Sox hitters.  This time not so much, though he battled through overall better than I expected it.

FIP hates him. Not surprising for this year but a little surprising for last year given how not good our defense was.

I'm guessing mainly due to his very high LOB rate, so far he has stranded 88% of baserunners and I think average is closer to 70%.
