I don't know if he should have, but he definitely could have.

Classic example of why you need a reliable SS IMO (not that Renteria isn't usually decent). How often do you see an inning where the veteran SS messes up and it sets the tone for everyone else's play? If Renteria can't even catch a very routine pop up, it has to distract/shake the confidence of a rookie LF who's in there for his bat and used to playing the other side of the field.

So Trembley publicly lambasts the rookie pitcher for his pitch selection last night but nothing is said or done about the veteran catcher who called the pitches and also ran the bases pitifully?

Maybe they are trying to deal the catcher and teach the pitcher a lesson? Just a thought...

What is that teaching your pitcher? To not trust his catcher and shake everything off?

Or maybe to trust his catcher and not shake him off? I don't know enough about the pitch selection from last night to know what control Olson had over it. But DT sure thinks he should have done something differently.
