Also if you add his Walks (37) to his total bases (139) once again it is lower than his Strike out total.  I wonder how many times that has happened in baseball for qualifying batters.

Chris Davis is a goldmine for first-grade teachers--good arithmetic practice.

His strikeout total (178) is higher than his average(174).

Closest he ever came before this year was 219 K’s, .221 average.   He may have been saved from that fate in 2014 by being suspended for the final month (173 K’s, .196 BA, but was on pace for about 193 K’s).

Wasn't Brady supposed to turn his whole stance and swing around when he sat for a week? Heard it for a week and then not much change and silence.Enjoy the silence, words can only do harm

Davis just stretched out 1 year of the production the O;s paid for over 2 years.  48 HR/121 RBI sounds pretty good.

If he had Tommy John Surgery, would insurance pay until he was able to pitch again?

Correct me if I'm wrong but hasn't Davis been almost replacement level since the benching?  He was at -1.9 fWAR on June 15th and he's "only" at -2.8 now.

Won't Coolbaugh be busy with the job search?

I don't see the problem.  With the amount of "work" they actually do per JP and "Coolie".  He should have time as a private instructor to work with one of his ex-students and field interviews.

For those O's fans that are holding out hope that the O's will somehow get out of Davis's contract.  Wright's retirement shows that even if Davis retires the O's will still be paying him.

Quote

To be clear, it does not sound as though Wright will formally announce his retirement. Newsday’s Tim Healey tweets that Wright, notably, did not use that word when describing his future, though he’s also been informed by doctors that his condition simply will not improve. Joel Sherman of the New York Post tweets that, indeed, Wright will not formally retire but will not return as a player during his contract. Wright is still signed through the 2020 season under the eight-year, $138MM extension he inked in Dec. 2012. He’s slated to earn $15MM in 2019 and $12MM in 2020 on that front-loaded deal, and if he’s declared medically unfit to play — as will be the case — he’ll continue to be paid out those sums.

5 PA's away from qualifying for the batting title. He had been on a mini hot streak to get his AVG to .180, but since then he is 0 for his last 15. He needs to either get very hot or sit for nearly every game down the stretch.

He doesn’t need to get very hot.  Let’s say he plays about every day and gets another 52 at bats.   He’d have to go 12 for 52 (.231) to finish above .179.     So all he really needs is a stretch where he’s merely mediocre, not terrible.

Mediocre seems like enough of a challenge for Davis.
