As long as ownership is rational.

The Brothers haven't given me any cause for concern...yet.  I still don't trust the reports that the old man is truly removed from things, even though I'd like that to be true.

That said, this new regime, Elias, Sig, the Brothers, seem to be going well so far.  No significant missteps yet.

I don't think they would be justified at all.

They would be meddeling, just like their father did.

You hired the guy let him do his job.

I hear you. I think it's not as black and white as that, is all. It would be unprecedented, as I've said before and you're sick of hearing from me, I'm sure. No team in baseball has ever cut a player this early with that much money. It's never happened. The O's could be the first, but I don't see it happening for at least a year and a half.

Teams have cut players owed a LOT of money before, this would just be more.  Not as if it isn't justified.  Keeping him around solely because of his contract is insipid.

Do you think the Red Sox wouldn't cut him?

Not to mention, yes, Peter Angelos is still listed as the top guy. He's not dead, he's very much around, even though his impact is far less than it was. The sons have basically all the power, but we don't really know if it's 100% at this point. Davis was Angelos' prize signing that he fought for. You don't think the sons "suggest" to Elias that he exhaust all options with Davis first? I don't think that makes the sons terrible owners. It just is what it is.

I do think they would cut him, probably by July of this season. They can afford to. The O's can too, but for the Sox it's literally nothing.

@Can_of_corn Bottom line: I hope you're right, but I disagree with your conclusions if Davis is not cut in 1 year.

Talk to me after I've suffered through another season of Davis though.

Last year was all the suffering I could take.  I mean, not that I have a choice in the matter, but seriously.  They're better off without him on a few different levels.

Maybe he should try batting right-handed.  Just sayin.

So many people mentioned this last year that I started over-thinking about it (as I always do), enough to where I thought it would actually work. He goes up a game or two in a row and bats righty - struggles goes 0-8. Then the next day goes back to lefty and its like oh man this is easy! Boom, out of a rut ?  It's just crazy enough to work.

He is still alive. He is listed as control for MLB. They are asking for a new control person named. MLB.
